Introduction The airbrush tanning industry is here to stay and anyone contemplating entering this industry either as a manufacturer, distributor, or salon owner should realize that the preservation of the industry image as a whole should come first. There are many factors that contribute to preserving that image but no one of them outweighs the truth. The truth about airbrush tanning is that very few industry professionals are telling it, at least not in its entirety. There are many reasons for this but the major contributing factor is lack of knowledge and experience. The sad fact is that the many of the distributors, salon owners and technicians are poorly educated in the science behind the products, and worst of all poorly trained and inexperienced in proper application techniques. Because the industry is relatively new and growing rapidly there are many who wish to capitalize on its success. The problem lies in the fact that there are no set guidelines for the industry with regard to proper training. State-to-State licensing policies are already in the works and it is only a matter of time before they are adopted. Airbrush Tanning is an art form and requires proper training, experience, quality equipment or “tools of the trade” and quality products. A deficit in any one of these areas produces unhappy tanners parading around with lackluster results spreading negativity about their experience like the plague. The result is a tarnished industry image detrimental to those of us who truly care about the success and longevity of this industry not to mention our own businesses. Table of Contents | Chapter 1
