Chapter 1: Why Get Involved With Airbrush Tanning? (cont.) Although vanity is the primary driving force of this industry, its promotion is based on its healthy aspects. Almost every local network news program has done a feature story on airbrush tanning. They usually pop up as soon as it becomes available to potential patrons in their viewing area. Although opinions differ, there is one constant; getting a sunless tan is by far the safest way to obtain one.
The healthy alternative to the sun is the main focus behind the Scentual Sun marketing plan. I come from the “baby oil and iodine generation” SPF? What is that? There are 75 million baby boomers in this country that are becoming more and more aware of the dangers of exposure to ultraviolet light. Many of them, like myself, have had skin cancers or suspicious moles removed and been warned by their doctors to stay out of the sun completely. Despite repeated warning, the majority refuses to heed this advice because having a tan and looking healthy is more important to them than actually protecting their health. Many of these people have tried the myriad of hand applied sunless tanners on the market with less than desirable results.
